Enjoying Ruby Lake

At least once a year, my friend Maria and her hubby Chris make it a point to spend a weekend at their cabin up in Sunshine Coast. And we're very fortunate to be always invited when they gather up family and friends to take with them for a much-needed rest and relaxation weekend. To be away from the hustle and bustle of city life for a couple of days is always a treat. And with network and reception being bad there, you're also forced to do a digital detox. Yes, that is such a thing now in this digital time. I'm telling you, it is wonderful to be without smartphones and internet for a couple of days - you can actually lift your head up and look around, take everything in and revel in God's grace and goodness. And just breathe.

We've gone there two years in a row already and both times have been just as relaxing. It was only a little bit better last year because we had the jet skis to play with! And holy cow, those things run fast! You can easily go 100 km/h and without absolutely no traffic and no boats around, you can just run wild! I was actually a little scared riding it on my own so I rode with Maria first and then with Nick. But the next day, I was all over it on my own. Haha! The wind in your face is exhilarating and you can bounce the jet ski as well, if you're risky. Lol. Another thing we did with the jet ski was to have a tube tied to it and we held on to it for dear life as Nick rode the jet ski around Ruby Lake. Thank God the water is warm! Who would've thought we'd fine a warm lake in Canada, eh? That was a really fun ride, despite the water attacking our faces throughout the entire ride!

The jet ski wasn't the only play thing we had - Chris' friend Branko also owns a party boat (he also owns the jet ski) and we got to take that out into the water too! We probably spent around six hours just going around the lake and swimming and eating. And come night time, we grilled salmon and pork bellies, had a few drinks, enjoyed some s'mores (cause any camping trip isn't complete without these), played board games and just talked around a camp fire. Are you jealous now? ;) It was a truly relaxing weekend.  One that we'd always look forward to every summer. :)

Pictures are, as you may have noticed, from last year's and this weekend's trips to Ruby Lake at Madeira Park in Sunshine Coast Region. Thanks again Maria and Chris for such fun weekends!

P.S
I seem to only update this blog every year, eh? Well, that needs to change! So here I am professing, yet again, that I will be blogging more. We'll see how long this actually lasts. Haha! I blame Instagram. Oh and hey, check out my food blog, Aimee Loves To Eat, aptly named as I love to cook, therefore, I love to eat! Nick and I both love cooking so that'll be where I will post our creations. Wow. Haha!

Keep livin' happy! ☺
