Marriage, a blessing that lasts a lifetime.
I remembered being excited about the realization of my dream wedding. And on June 18, 2016, a wonderfully hot California Saturday, my dreams have come true.
This post could actually have a million other different titles but at the moment, nothing rings truer but the fact Nicholas and I will be sharing a lifetime filled with kisses, hugs and all the feels in between. He actually inspired that title (as he should) when I remembered him saying this to me last week when I said I was missing him a great deal. "I'll be waiting for you at home with feels and hugs." He's quite the affectionate and sometimes cheesy guy and I am forever grateful to God that he is who he is - no trouble showing and expressing his admiration and love.
Friends who've known us know that we've been civilly married for more than a year now and so the question they first asked when we've settled in our lives was "So, what's different now?"
Nothing and everything.
To have finally received God's blessing in our union removes a world of worries and fears and replaces it with the tremendous feeling of God's grace. It is the grace that speaks a million promises, grace that comforts, grace that provides, grace that forgives, grace that guides, grace that sustains, grace that loves beyond human understanding.
The connection between us reached a new depth as gone are the talks that revolve around wedding planning and the overwhelming number of details that come with. Now, we can actually leisurely go about our day without too much worry if this or that has been done. Now, we talk more about our future, dream up goals, and envision our life together. Now, we can finally look back and see how our lives has changed for the better and how God has worked with us through every challenging time we've had and get the reassurance once more that though time may not be optimal right now, indeed we are okay.
Couples who have gone through and are going through wedding planning know how trying this time could be and how much they look forward to getting this over with. We are happy to report that life can and does get better after a marriage. I mean, for one day, the number of details are overwhelming it's ridiculous. But don't get me wrong, I'd do it all over again if I have to (maybe for our 25th!) because the celebration and all our family and friends wishing us well on this new journey feels gratifying. It definitely humbled us that day how much people are willing to celebrate and share a portion of their time with us and how many of them were willing to help out for the success of that day. For all that, we could say it was worth it.
The devil is in the details
Our wedding was as perfect as it could be. The details that have given us quite a pain turned out to be one of the things that gave us joy to see. Sure, guests would remember the music, the ceremony, the dancing, the alcohol, and the food but us brides and even grooms will always appreciate our vision coming to fruition. Such a tedious process but seeing them all so pretty made all the effort worth it.Sharing our amazing day as photographed by the amazing and sweet Priscilla Frey. ♥
To everyone who came and especially those who helped - we give you our sincerest gratitude from the bottom of our hearts! You know who you are. We couldn't have done this wedding without your help! Thank you so much! May our good and great Lord bless your kind and generous hearts!
Keep livin' happy!☺
