I've had my Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 for about three years now and have recently received the more feature-packed Instax Mini 90 as a gift (thanks, babe!). I enjoyed taking instax photos with the mini 8 but I'd have to say, the Mini 90 takes the cake for superb photo quality! No wonder it's every photographers' instant camera choice.
I was actually leaning on getting the Fujifilm Instax Wide 300 because I felt limited by the size of the mini but my husband, who's an aspiring photographer, convinced me that the Mini 90 was the better of the two. And boy was it a joy to shoot with! My very first shot, in macro mode, as I've always been a fan of shooting macro, did not disappoint! It left me in awe as I'm finally able to shoot close with an instant camera! Of course, it doesn't always shoot perfectly, especially if you didn't set the right mode in or are too shaky. I sometimes forget that I'm not holding my DSLR or my trusty mirrorless camera and really have to be careful with setting it up right before shooting. I'll be sure to share some of the photos I've taken - both the good and the bad. I just have to round them all up as they're everywhere!
This brings me to the purpose of this entire post - sharing this very easy and affordable DIY instax photo album. When I first had my Mini 8, I went to Daiso (love that store!) and got myself a little brown sketch notebook. Its cover has a little window and I just put together a red card and a doily (also from Daiso!) and put it behind the "window" for decor.
My other DIY album is also from Daiso, yes, big surprise there. I got the idea from someone who uses those trading card albums from toy stores to keep their instax films in. So I set out on the hunt for that and stumbled upon this faux leather card holder and it was perfect! The leather was soft and its color matched my Instax Mini 90 Neo Classic. There was just "Card Holder" embossed at the top right corner and so I just stuck my initials there and added an "awesome" sticker for more design.
This is how they look like inside and as you can see, they're simple but gets the job done. I'm very crafty and so I like anything that I can design and customize to make my own. I can't wait to fill them with random snaps and see the progress on my instant film photography.
