I had the chance last week to tag along with Nick when he did the engagement session of our friends at the Abbotsford Tulip Festival. I'm so glad they decided to do it here, it was definitely the perfect location for a spring engagement shoot!
We were a little worried that the weather won't cooperate as the forecast was rain but we went ahead and just hoped for the best. And Mother Nature obliged! It was only drizzling when we got there and it was mostly cloudy which was perfect for shooting outdoors.
Nick started directing the couple and clicking away, and there I was holding on to my bag, my own Canon DSLR, my Instax Wide 300, the reflector, the mini ladder we brought along, and an umbrella - the ultimate assistant and bag lady. I probably would've minded it any other day, but it was a cool day, and being surrounded by these colorful beauties would turn any frown upside down.
Of course, I did not just stand there. I started snapping away, enjoying every color I saw, every rain droplet on the tulips and even lived in the moment trudging through its muddy fields. And the fields are very muddy - be sure to wear knee-high boots and don't think that just because it's a sunny day, it won't be wet, this is still a farm after all.
And of course, I didn't miss the opportunity to have Nick take photos of me deep between the rows of these tulips, enjoying the colors around me, making sure every moment is captured. Our friends also kindly took photos of Nick and me being playful and loving amongst these blooms. I know, cheesy! Lol! But that's who we are!
