Long before planners became a trend or cute and girly planners even existed, I remember getting my very first organizer (as planners were called then) and feeling so well-organized and put together in school. I loved the feel of that soft red and blue faux leather bound organizer, I treasured it and actually have it up to this day. Though I treasured it, it frustrated me that it looked too formal inside. And so I actually measured the pages, designed and printed a set of weekly pages for it. I should've known then that seeing as a teenage girl like me enjoyed it, others would surely see the beauty there is in planning. I probably could've made myself a fortune!
Up to this day, in my happy thirty-year old self, the love of all things pen and crafty didn't leave me. I've got a notebook for just about everything - recipes, grocery lists, diary, devotionals, dreams and wishes - you name it. The organizer in me thoroughly believes in "a place for everything and everything in its places." So yes, even my different ideas have their own places. I admit though that sometimes I drive myself up the wall that I just have to have a notebook for different topics. I think this comes down to addiction with notebooks, planners, sticky notes, stickers, and pens. At least it's a healthy one, to some degree.
There are probably close to ten planners lying around our place, some given, some used, some for future use, and some I bought because they're too freaking cute justifying that they're super affordable anyway. I'm sure I'll share them in a post here in the future.
When all these planner girl videos started circulating on YouTube and all over social media, it was only natural that they come my way and open up my eyes to the amazing world of planning. Lol. But seriously, I didn't realize how big it has gotten and how many women now enjoy jobs as planner designers. They have opened the box containing all things pretty, pink, cute, sparkly, in gold foil, and there's just no going back for some.
I know I get crazy at Michael's or at Target's Dollar Spot. Haha. All those memes about going to a store to get just one thing and end up spending an arm and a leg is the story of my life. I dare not go to Michael's without my husband to keep me on a tight leash (of my own request) as I will gladly say "take my money!!" But yeah, you all know what I mean.
- Washi tapes - I get mine from Michaels, Daiso and Target
- Planner cards - mine was from my planer supplies haul at Blitsy
- Stickers - they're everywhere! Michaels, Daiso, Dollar Store, Target. I have a whole clear book of various stickers
- Gel pens and colored pens - from Target and the dollar store
- Sticky notes and page flags - for cute reminders
- Deco tape - got mine from Daiso but unfortunately, they're not the best quality
- Photo printer - I have the LG Pocket Photo Printer. This is a gift from my parents. Love it! They add memories to my weekly spread
- Stamps and chalkboard ink - for sort of a vintage feel to my planner designs
- Happy Planner printables - an easy search on Google brings up thousands of designers who offer their designs for personal use. Thanks a lot to them my weekly spread can have their own theme!
Here's a little sneak peek of my weekly spread this week in my Happy Planner -
Do you enjoy planning as well? What are your essentials? :)
